xu, x holds the view that the forming of sexism inenglish language is closely connected with history, culture, education andcustom, etc. (xu, x 2008, p.101). through lots of examples, the passageexhibits the phenomenon of sexism in english and its reason, its main display andits rebuilding, and explains the importance of eliminating it in the essay.piercey, m structures the essay around three themes: english as a part ofculture, the discrimination in english, and the marginalization of women inliterature. the author believes that we should start by using nonsexistlanguage, teaching nonsexist literature, and studying her story to eliminatethe idea that women are inferior to men (piercey, m,2000).

they are all involved in the study of cultural sexism.some scholars have also studied the phenomenon of sexism reflected in thelexical level of language.

guo xinyu, liu yang and wang baiju talk about sexismin english from the perspectives of word-formation, connotation, collocativemeaning, appellation and idioms. they believe that we can get a betterunderstanding of the relationship between language and the objective world fromthe parts mentioned above (guo xinyu, liu yang amp; wang baiju, 2019). yiguifang attempts to probe into sexism phenomena in the english language in termsof lexicon, lexical meaning as well as proverbs, and then focuses on thediscussion of strategies for its avoidance so as to advocate nonsexist languagein place of sexist language. the author thinks that the use of sexist languagedoes not mean that it is the language that is sexist but rather the socialattitude connoted in the language that is sexist (yigui fang 2018, p.322).
